Baad Roots


Baad Roots is taken from the expression to have ´bad roots´ and those of you who know the primitive Icelanders, know that those people were in no form good or kind people. Murderes, thiefs and beggers fled from Norway and Sweden and inhabited Iceland in the early civilasation around the year 900, and therefor are all Icelanders born with Bad Roots.  The extra a in Baad Roots means this trio has exeptionally bad roots. Dominik Wallner painist, a schnaps brewer from Zell am see, Camillo Mainque Jenny an Argentinian rebel and Haraldur Gudmunddson, an blood thirsty Icelandic wiking.

Baad Roots trio plays original material, composed by the bassist Haraldur Gudmundsson, melodic and often dreamy feeling over the compositions. Haraldur seeks influences to traditional jazz so as Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and many known composers of the american songbook.

Baad Roots was formed in early spring of 2009 in Salzburg, and plans on recording for a cd in the year 2011.
